1948년 네덜란드 오이스터바이크에서 태어났다. 대학에서 네덜란드문학을 전공하고 번역가로 일했다. 1993년 자신이 쓴 첫 책을 출간한 이래, 네덜란드 청소년문학을 대표하는 주요 작가로 활동하며 3년 연속 네덜란드 청소년문학상인 은연필상을 받았다. 『마츠가 돌아오지 않던 밤』으로는 2004년 벨기에 문학상인 황금부엉이상을 수상했으며, 독일아동청소년문학상 후보에 올랐다.
Martha Heesen (b. 1948) is a translator and author of books for young readers. The characters in her stories are often imaginative ‘thinkers’ with problems relating to other people. Heesen has received a great deal of praise for her literary children’s books. She won the Silver Slate Pencil on a number of occasions and in 2004 she won the Golden Owl for Toen Faas niet thuiskwam. With Maandag heeft vleugels and now Wolf Heesen demonstrates that she a also write accessible books for a younger audience. |
